OPD utility sheds

>

OPD utility sheds are designated for telecommunications, monitoring, navigational, media, security and other installations, television and radio transmitters, distributors etc. These are structures that feature a steel construction, sandwich walls and fibreglass roofs. The materials used ensure these structures will have a very long lifetime with minimal maintenance requirements.

The use of utility sheds is ideal everywhere where, for technical or economic reasons, it is necessary to find an operative solution for quickly making installed equipment operational (for example, this significantly simplifies the building permit process). Installing equipment into a utility shed also makes economic sense – it is less expensive than building a brick structure.

The estimated lifetime of the structure is at least 30 years (the first sheds of this type were manufactured in the early 1970s and continue to serve their purpose well). For the entire lifetime of the product, minor adjustments to the optional equipment can be carried out on it.

STANDARD UTILITY SHED DESIGN

The construction of the sheds complies with current environmental demands and all parts have been designed in accordance with legal norms and the relevant safety, hygiene and fire prevention regulations.

The construction of the shed is comprised of a shiny galvanised base and roof frame.

The walls are made up of non-sectioned 45 mm wide sandwiched panels composed of painted galvanised sheet metal, polyurethane foam and another layer of painted galvanised sheet metal. The ceiling is made of the same panels.

The roof is a fibreglass sandwiched construction featuring 30 mm thick thermal insulation. For aesthetic reasons – to incorporate the structure into the surroundings – the shed can be toped with a ridge (hip) roof covered with roof tiles or shingles.

The floor is comprised of shiny galvanised steel sheet on the outside and PVC floor covering adhered to waterproof plywood on the inside. Mineral wool thermal insulation is inserted between these two layers. Other alternatives can include e.g. and antistatic floor, a double floor that can be dismantled for easier installation of cables etc. The sheds can also be delivered without a floor – this design makes it possible to mount the structure onto the already assembled technology on site.

The doors are manufactured out of steel sections. The inner and outer sites are covered with a layer of galvanised sheet metal, with a 25 mm thick layer of mineral wool thermal insulation in the middle. The doors are equipped with mortise locks. Widths of 800 or 900 mm are standard, but other dimensions can also be manufactured.

The overall construction of the shed is robust and durable enough to safeguard against vandalism or unauthorised access to the inside area.

The standard surface treatment of the shed is a coat of acrylic paint on the inside and outside (the doors are coated with powdered paint). Any RAL colour paint can be used. The shell can also be finished with artificial plaster, wood panels etc.  The gates are coated with polyurethane paint in an RAL colour.

Electrical installation. Electricity is distributed using CYKY cables stored in cable channels. The container is connected to the distribution network via a fixed main that runs through the container floor or wall to the interior distributor. Power circuit protection is installed in the plastic distributor.  An initial control report is issued on the electrical installations and is included with each delivery. In the standard version the sheds are equipped with two light bulb lights, two power sockets and a distributor with two sockets. The electrical installation can be entirely modified to comply with the client’s demands or the needs of the technology installed. The sheds can be equipped with ventilators, space heater panels, an air conditioning unit, security system, cable ports etc.

BASIC PRODUCT SERIES

OPT utility sheds are manufactured in several size and design options (see table of dimensions). The shed construction also makes customisation possible – i.e. ports in the floor and walls, electrical installation including an air conditioning unit, atypical dimensions, coloured paint etc.

UTILITY SHED TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION

OPD utility sheds are transported on standard trucks that have the corresponding lifting ability. They can be moved with the attachment points on the bottom frame of the shed using a fork lift or crane.

To install the structure, any evened out surface is sufficient for it to function. To extend the lifetime of the shed, the manufacturer recommends installing the shed on a prepared firm surface. It is entirely sufficient to spread and even out a layer of gravel on the site and lay road panels on top of the gravel.
